National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the nation’s most prestigious organizations established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students. The National Honor Society serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character, the same characteristics that have been the hallmark of this organization since its inception.
Today, the National Honor Society has more than 15,000 chapters with more than 1,000,000 students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. territories and Canada, participating in numerous school and community activities. Membership is both an honor and a commitment, challenging our students to make a positive difference today as well as to promote leadership and character values for tomorrow.
